Krewe of Alegria Garage Sale

The members of the Krewe of Alegria go together to raise money to help another member in her recovery from cancer.  Many members chipped in and donated items and their time.  Over $400 was raised.  There are still some items and collectibles for sale.  If you are interested, you can reply to this post.

Helping our Treasured Member

The Krewe of Alegria's central mission is to be "Goodwill Ambassadors to the Tampa Bay Community" by giving back to the community that we live in and love.  

When one of our treasured members, Jeanne, was faced with the heartbreaking diagnosis of cancer, we all knew we had to mobilize a campaign to help her and her family.  

Jeanne is an officer with the Krewe of Alegria.  As the driving force behind our 501(c)3 charitable organization, Kickin' for Kids, she has been responsible for donating thousands of shoes to children in the Tampa Bay Area.  

With this vision in mind, one of our members, Michelle Vrooman-South, created the medical fundraiser website to allow people from all over the world to donate money to help our member cover medical and living expenses while she is undergoing treatment.

Tutu and Tiarra Tuesday was a Smash Hit!

Thank you to everybody who came out to celebrate Tutu and Tiarra Tuesday with The Krewe of Alegria on August 26!  

A special thank you to Hamburger Mary's staff, and our gorgeous bingo caller, Amy DiMilo.  

Over $1,200 was raised for Kickin' for Kids.

The Krewe of Alegria's Celebration of Mothers

On Sunday May 4 the Krewe of Alegria has spectacular event which celebrates Mothers.  

This event is suitable for ladies of all ages, and well-behaved children are welcome. 

Tickets are $25 and includes a brunch and fashion show.  There will also be a specialty boutique featuring local vendors who have great gift ideas for Mom, or to treat yourself. 

 Proceeds benefit Alegira's Kicken' for Kids.  Kicken for Kids is a organization that provides shoes to deserving children in the Tampa Bay Area.  

This event will be at Hollywood Venue.

Krewe of Alegria 2nd Annual Bunny Hop

The Krewe of Alegria is proud to announce the 2nd Annual Bunny Hop. 

 April 12 in Historic Ybor City.

The hopping fun starts at 7:30 at Tequila's.  

Registration is $20, or $10 with a new pair of children's sneakers.

Krewe of Alegria – fashionistas with a cause

The Krewe of Alegria is a group of women who love fashion, give back to the community, and are rock the Gasparilla Parade.  Alegria has been dazzling the spectators in the Gasparilla parade since 1986 when Dianne Henry and Dyann “Rocky” Valdez decided to that the boys should not be the only ones having fun.  From that day, the Krewe of Alegria was founded, making them the first all women’s Krewe in Gasparilla. 

Alegria means joy in Spanish, and these women are on a mission to enjoy life, and inspire others to do the same.  These fashionistas take pirate-attire to a new level.  Their jewel toned-costumes are all about the bling, and each lady embellishes them with sequins and crystals.  The sleeves are white and puffy reminiscent of pirate attire.  Finished with black boots and black leggings, these ladies light up the parade route. 

Alegria is not just about bling and bootie, when they are not parading down Bayshore Blvd, they give back to the community.  Algeria has their very own charity which is named Kicken’ for Kids.  Kicken’ for Kids raises money throughout the year to provide new shoes for deserving children in the Tampa Bay area.  These women know that with the right pair of shoes, you can conquer the world!
